  • No Man’s Sky is now available on iPhone and iPad, with a free opening section and a one-time payment to unlock the full game.
  • The mobile edition arrives alongside Forsaken, adding strange traders, collectible mementos, new ship parts and space courier missions.
  • Hello Games has rebuilt the interface for touch, while the App Store listing sets hardware and operating-system requirements for supported devices.

No Man’s Sky is now available on iPhone and iPad, bringing Hello Games’ space exploration game to Apple’s mobile devices alongside the Forsaken update. Players can try the opening section free before paying once to unlock the complete game.

The studio’s announcement says the mobile edition includes more than 40 major updates, with Forsaken available from day one. This is the full game running on a supported device, rather than access through a cloud-streaming subscription.

A Free Start and a One-Time Unlock

The US App Store lists the full-game unlock at $19.99. The initial download is free, but continuing beyond the introductory section requires that purchase. Local prices can differ between storefronts.

Apple’s listing specifies iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 and an A12 Bionic chip or later. Its compatibility list includes iPhone XS and XR models, while Hello Games highlights iPhone 11 and newer and third-generation iPad Air and newer in its launch message. Players should check the listing against their exact device before downloading.

The store reports an app size of about 3.8 GB, close to the roughly 4 GB package described by the developer. That makes storage and operating-system compatibility relevant even for owners of relatively recent phones.

The trial-and-unlock approach is also reaching other established games. We covered Dispatch’s planned mobile release, which will offer four episodes free before a separate full-game purchase. Each game gives players a sample of the actual experience before charging for the rest.

Touch Controls for a Large Exploration Game

Hello Games says it rebuilt the interface for touch and optimized the iOS engine around battery consumption and heat. Those are the studio’s development claims; they do not establish a measured frame rate or battery-life figure across the supported hardware.

The central loop still involves travelling between planets, gathering resources, improving equipment and choosing how to explore, trade or fight. The mobile version brings that existing structure to a smaller screen, rather than replacing it with a separate spin-off built around the same name.

For newcomers, the opening section provides a way to assess the controls and presentation on their own device. A supported phone and a successful installation alone cannot show how comfortable a long exploration session will be.

Forsaken Adds a Darker Side of Space

The Forsaken update expands the game’s scavenging systems. Players can collect unsettling biological mementos from places such as abandoned freighters and infested outposts, then exchange them with new traders for unusual corvette components. Spending too long around the samples can attract hostile boundary horrors.

Other additions include courier contracts from deep-space outposts, more cockpit and interior options, and new cosmetic equipment. A radial selector makes switching Multi-Tool functions easier, while a minimal HUD option reduces on-screen information for experienced players.

The update also allows nearby stars to be targeted directly from space for seamless warping, and permits orbital constructions to be uploaded for other players to visit. These are additions to the wider No Man’s Sky update, accompanying the mobile launch rather than features exclusive to iPhone and iPad.
