Key Notes

  • Wolverine topped September’s PS5 downloads in the US and Canada, with FC 27 first in Europe and the two games swapping second place.
  • Sony’s PS4 leaders were Red Dead Redemption 2 and FC 27 by region, while I Am Cat led both PS VR2 download charts.
  • The rankings cover PlayStation Store downloads without unit totals, and should not be treated as global sales or revenue figures.

Marvel’s Wolverine led September’s PS5 download chart in the US and Canada, while EA Sports FC 27 took first place in Europe. Sony’s monthly charts put the two games in reversed positions across those regions, with football first in Europe and Wolverine second.

NBA 2K27 placed third in the US and Canada, ahead of Halloween and The Blood of Dawnwalker. In Europe, Dawnwalker took third, Halloween fourth and Grand Theft Auto V fifth. Control Resonant reached eighth in the US and Canada and tenth in Europe, while Forza Horizon 5 remained inside both regions’ top 20.

The separate PS4 rankings were led by Red Dead Redemption 2 in the US and Canada and FC 27 in Europe. I Am Cat topped both PS VR2 lists. Among free-to-play games across PS5 and PS4, Call of Duty: Warzone led in the US and Canada, whereas Aniimo finished first in Europe, ahead of Fortnite.

The lists measure the order of PlayStation Store downloads, not worldwide sales or revenue, and Sony does not provide unit totals in this release. PS5 upgrades are excluded. The PS VR2 table also excludes hardware bundles and upgrades, which matters when comparing those rankings with broader estimates of how many people own or play a game.

The results offer a narrower view of a busy release month. We previously reported Alinea Analytics’ estimate that FC 27 had generated $714.1 million in gross revenue and sold 7.9 million copies across Steam, PlayStation and Xbox. Sony’s charts are first-party regional download rankings for September, so they complement that estimate without supplying a directly comparable sales total or independently confirming its figures.
