Pokémon Unite will end service on March 23, 2027, closing the team-based battler on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. The Pokémon Company has stopped new currency purchases and subscription renewals, while outlining a final event and a limited way to preserve some player records.
The official notice sets the shutdown for 00:00 UTC. Aeos gem sales, new Unite Club memberships and automatic membership renewals stopped at 05:00 UTC on October 27. Existing members retain benefits for the remainder of their paid period.

The Final Event Starts in November
A separate event announcement dates the next update for November 12 at 04:00 UTC. It will introduce special Unite coins, obtainable through log-in bonuses and missions, that can be exchanged for previously released content.
The exchange includes Unite licenses, Holowear, Trainer fashion and snapshot items. Missions will award coins through ranked matches and other battle modes, giving returning players a way to collect items during the remaining months.
This is a wind-down event rather than a replacement service. The company is offering more things to obtain before the cutoff, while the underlying online battles still have an end date. Players with existing Aeos gems can spend them until service ends.
The Library Preserves Records, Not Online Battles
The November update also adds a Library feature for viewing acquired content and achievements. The planned collection includes Holowear, licenses, emblems and tournament results, alongside access to the Practice Area.
Players must download the required Library data before the shutdown. The company says that data generally cannot move between devices and that Library support will end with the service. The download is therefore something to complete on the device a player intends to retain.
The distinction matters for anyone hoping the game will become an ordinary offline release. The Library is designed to retain a limited record of an account and some content; it does not preserve matchmaking or the full live experience.
We covered the consequences of NBA 2K25’s server closure for playable modes. Unite’s approach is different, but the practical question is similar: which parts of an online game remain usable when its servers disappear?
A Major Mobile Brand Reaches Its Endpoint
Unite began on Switch in July 2021 before reaching mobile that September. Its five-on-five format brought Pokémon into the multiplayer online battle arena genre, where teams compete through coordinated matches rather than the main series’ turn-based journey.
Mobilegamer cited AppMagic estimates of roughly $75 million in gross mobile revenue and 127.4 million downloads. Those are third-party mobile estimates, not a complete accounting of Switch and mobile revenue or publisher profit.
The same reporting places Japan at about 29% of estimated mobile revenue, despite accounting for around 5% of downloads. That illustrates why a large download total alone cannot describe a live game’s commercial performance. The shutdown notice does not give a reason for the decision.
Competitive play has one more confirmed commitment: the previously announced Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament will proceed, with qualifiers beginning December 5. That event continues within the final service period; it does not extend the March shutdown.
