Firefly Studios said Stronghold 4 has passed 250,000 Steam wishlists roughly two weeks after the strategy game was announced. The milestone follows the game’s reveal during PC Gaming Show 2026, where the studio introduced the next mainline entry in the long-running medieval castle-building franchise.
The developer also released a playable demo on Steam, giving players access to the opening missions. The demo is meant to give strategy fans an early look at the game’s castle construction, combat, economy systems, and siege-focused gameplay before the full early access launch.
Stronghold 4 is planned as a prequel to the original game. Its story follows a shepherd who is forced by a chain of events to become a leader, placing the campaign before the events that shaped the earlier Stronghold titles. Firefly has not announced an exact release date, but the game is expected to enter early access sometime in 2026.
The wishlist total gives Firefly an early measure of demand before release. For PC developers, Steam wishlists remain an important signal for launch visibility, marketing momentum, and potential first-week sales performance. A strong wishlist count can also help a game gain more attention during seasonal Steam events and demo showcases.
The early response suggests Stronghold still has a sizable audience among PC strategy players, even years after the franchise’s original rise. For Firefly, Stronghold 4 is an opportunity to reconnect with long-time fans while introducing the castle-building series to newer players who discovered medieval strategy games through Steam.
