Key Notes

  • Silver Pines reached 100,000 copies sold across all platforms one week after launch, according to Wych Elm and publisher Team17.
  • The five-person team’s survival-horror metroidvania follows a private investigator searching for a missing musician through a town of puzzles and scarce resources.
  • Steam-purchase reviews across all languages were roughly 95% positive when checked on October 16, a separate measure from the game’s sales total.

Silver Pines has reached 100,000 copies sold a week after its October 8 release, giving developer Wych Elm an early milestone for its survival-horror metroidvania. The studio announced the figure on October 15 and thanked players for supporting a game made by its five-person team.

Team17’s Steam announcement confirms that the total covers all platforms. It is not a Steam-only sales estimate, a player count or a figure inferred from the number of user reviews.

A Five-Person Team Finds Its Audience

Wych Elm said it was delighted that its small team had created a game that connected with so many people. The announcement does not break sales down by platform or disclose revenue, development costs or profitability.

That keeps the milestone specific: 100,000 copies during the game’s opening week. It is a measure of purchases across PC and consoles, rather than a claim about how many people have finished its story or how its audience will develop over time.

We recently reported on Control Resonant reaching one million sales in three weeks. Silver Pines belongs to a different scale of production, but both announcements come directly from the companies behind the games rather than third-party sales estimates. There is no disclosed budget here to turn the comparison into a measure of financial returns.

A Missing Musician in a Town Full of Nightmares

The official site introduces private investigator Red Walker, who arrives in the half-abandoned American town of Silver Pines to find missing musician Eddie Velvet. The investigation draws him into the town’s buried history and a growing nightmare.

The game combines classic survival-horror pressures with metroidvania exploration. In practical terms, that means limited resources, puzzles and dangerous encounters alongside a map whose locked routes gradually open as Walker acquires better equipment.

According to the Steam listing, players can fight or evade threats while searching for ammunition, medicine and upgrades. Inventory space is restricted, making what to carry part of the challenge. New tools and weapons also make more of the town accessible, tying investigation to revisiting earlier locations.

The setting is presented through a 2.5D perspective and hand-animated visuals. Team17’s launch description highlights rotoscoped animation and a neo-noir aesthetic, establishing the visual approach without making photorealism the goal. The result is a specific pitch for players interested in a story-led mystery with survival mechanics.

Strong Steam Feedback Across Languages

Our October 16 review check found an Overwhelmingly Positive rating across all languages for Steam-purchase reviews. Of 2,054 reviews in that group, 1,961 were positive and 93 negative, or roughly 95% positive. Those numbers are a snapshot and will change as more players leave feedback.

Steam lists this as a single-player game, with full English voice acting and interface and subtitles in ten languages. Its feature list also includes achievements and cloud saves.

Positive reviews we examined repeatedly referenced Twin Peaks, The X-Files and classic Resident Evil, particularly when discussing atmosphere and presentation. Several praised the visual style or the pleasure of working through its mystery. These are reactions from those reviewers, rather than our own gameplay verdict or a survey of every buyer.

Silver Pines is published by Team17 and available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing separately confirms that version and its October 8 release date.

In the United States, the Steam standard edition is listed at $24.99, with a 10% launch discount reducing it to $22.49 during the current promotion. Prices differ by region and storefront; the 100,000-copy announcement does not say how sales were divided between editions or platforms.
