Nintendo has detailed the 12 sports coming to Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, which launches exclusively for Switch 2 on October 22. The company’s sports rundown combines returning activities such as bowling, archery and basketball with two additions: skateboarding and thumb wrestling.
Skateboarding uses the Joy-Con 2 controller’s mouse functionality for rails, slides and aerial tricks. Thumb wrestling asks players to pin an opponent’s thumb for three seconds, with a charging mechanic that makes a held-down thumb stronger. The remaining lineup spans tennis, volleyball, golf, boxing, table tennis, Power Cruising and Prop Plane flying, alongside the other returning sports.
The official listing describes several ways to use that collection. Up to four people can play offline on one system, while private Friend Lobbies support as many as eight players, with up to two on each console. Accessories needed for particular multiplayer setups are sold separately, so a single pair of controllers should not be assumed to cover every group.
A single-player-focused Island Crown mode pits players against champions and legends, including Matt, across nine sports. Casual online matches and the ranked Pro League provide separate ways to compete. Away from individual matches, players can explore Wuhu Island on land, at sea and in a propeller plane, completing sightseeing challenges and collecting photos around the resort.
The game also lets players choose a Sportsmate or Mii and unlock appearance options with Spocco Points. Online features require a Nintendo Account, an internet connection and a Nintendo Switch Online membership; supported features and availability vary by country. The October 22 release is for Switch 2, so owners of the original Switch need the newer system to play this installment.
